As his custom has been HON. BEDE EKE on Sunday the 22nd day of may 2016 addressed his constituency on the current economic realities urging them to remain resolute and law abinding even in the trying periods of our democracy. He however, charged them to remain optimistic that the dividends of democracy will not elude them.
In his words ;
"I want to thank God for all he has done in our lives and the varying levels of mercy he has shown. The last five months have been filled with unmet expectations and varying levels of disappointment ranging from the impending economic recession to the delay in the signing of budgets down to the loss of jobs and the hike in fuel prices amongst all other harsh realities we have been faced with, we have been resilient nonetheless and I owe all the glory to God and gratitude to us all for our resolve to remain good citizens.
The budget has been signed and not all our projects were reflected but I can assure us of one thing, the desired face-lift of some of our communities would be evidences of this mandate.
We hear as well, that the federal government doesn't have the capacity to implement the budget fully but in any case, we must get a fraction from whatever is implemented."
He also addressed the people of Ngor Okpala on the sudden and untimely death of comrade peter Ofurum and reassured them of his commitments in bringing justice to the deceased according to him
"The case of Peter ofurum is one that I'll never handle with levity. As earlier stated a month ago, the time I gave for the investigation by the police has elapsed and it's time to swing into full action against the officers that killed our son.
On this note, I appeal that anyone with further details on this case should reach me with such information. Justice for Peter ofurum is justice for us all. I don't want to work with the police report which suggests he charged at them. I need our own accounts of the incident (especially of those who are students of the university of Porthacourt) so we can begin this week to summon the police commissioner and prosecute the perpetrators.
If we take everything else for a joke, if we play politics with other issues, I beg that we drop those things aside and help grant him justice.
Thanks again as we keep praying for the safety our lives and properties. We pray that this year would bring forth all we hope and more. On behalf of my family and I, I wish you a happy sunday and a victorious week ahead.
In the light of this the people of Nogr Okpala and Aboh Mbaise showed blessings on him and extolled his simplicity humility and commitments describing him as a paragon of good representation. It should be recalled that briefing his constituency weekly has been his stock in trade.
